Gradually she gets discovered by people who resonate with her songs and actively try to make things better - and she in turn works with them to do the same. I'd have her be an inexperienced and obscure artist who record labels turn down because of her radical message. If I were to "fix" her I'd retcon her journey so that she's not at the point where she is ALREADY popular and beloved. But at the same time it sort of just makes Seraphine fans feel foolish for liking the champ - she's not a hero, she's just a clown. You can see Riot trying to "fix" that by shifting away from the original version of Seraphine - where Pilties and Zaunites alike both LOVED her - and showed recent Zaun champs look down at her (Zeri calling her naive and Renata straight up calling her a traitor). Like thinking you could solve police brutality by sharing a Pepsi with a cop, it's just the kind of self centered hero complex bullshit you shouldn't endorse and Riot implicitly endorsed it by releasing this character the way they did. But the whole issue was the way she was implemented in the lore which was just tone deaf.Įven ignoring her design, you basically tried to glamorise the most condescending clueless rich kid shit ever and it's embarrassing. Seraphine is one of those characters that I really wanted to like.
